A Graph-Based Optimization Framework for Large Water Distribution Networks

چکیده
Water distribution networks (WDNs) have a crucial task: to reliably provide sufficient and high-quality water while optimizing financial resources. Achieving both reliability resilience is vital. However, oversizing capacities can be costly detrimental quality due stagnation. Designing WDNs requires the consideration of these factors, resulting in multi-objective optimization task typically addressed with evolutionary algorithms. Yet, for large numerous decision variables, such algorithms become impractical. Complex network analysis offers an efficient approach, particularly mathematical graphs representing WDNs. Recently, graph-based design approach using customized measure (demand edge betweenness centrality) surrogate method assessment were developed. This paper combines approaches into framework suitable complex, real-world The aims minimize costs, maximize resilience, exclude designs poor quality. It demonstrated on toy example, its computational efficiency shown by real case study 4000 obtaining results just 18.5 s compared weeks computation time state-of-the-art algorithm.

Resilience-Based Framework for Distributed Generation Planning in Distribution Networks
Events with low probability and high impact, which annually cause high damages, seriously threaten the health of the distribution networks. Hence, more attention to the issue of enhancing network resilience and continuity of power supply, feels more than ever, all over the world. In modern distribution networks, because of the increasing presence of distributed generation resources, an alternat...
متن کاملLPKP: location-based probabilistic key pre-distribution scheme for large-scale wireless sensor networks using graph coloring
Communication security of wireless sensor networks is achieved using cryptographic keys assigned to the nodes. Due to resource constraints in such networks, random key pre-distribution schemes are of high interest. Although in most of these schemes no location information is considered, there are scenarios that location information can be obtained by nodes after their deployment. In this paper,...
متن کاملVULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT OF WATER DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS: GRAPH THEORY METHOD
The main functional purpose of a water distribution network is to transport water from a source to several domestic and industrial units while at the same time satisfying various requirements on hydraulic response. All the water distribution networks perform two basic operations: firstly the water network needs to deliver adequate amounts of water to meet specific requirements, and secondly the...
متن کاملEfficient Sensor Placement Optimization for Securing Large Water Distribution Networks
The problem of deploying sensors in a large water distribution network is considered, in order to detect the malicious introduction of contaminants. It is shown that a large class of realistic objective functions—such as reduction of detection time and the population protected from consuming contaminated water—exhibits an important diminishing returns effect called submodularity. The submodular...
متن کاملA HYBRID CHARGED SYSTEM SEARCH - FIREFLY ALGORITHM FOR OPTIMIZATION OF WATER DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS
Water distribution networks are one of the important and costly infrastructures of cities and many meta-heuristic algorithms in standard or hybrid forms were used for optimizing water distribution networks. These algorithms require a large amount of computational cost. Therefore, the converging speed of algorithms toward the optimization goal is as important as the goal itself. In this paper, a...
